Visionary Selma Turki speaks at Cybersec Europe: ‘Cybersecurity is not an IT problem’

Cybersec Europe will take place on May 21 and 22, where leading experts will discuss the latest trends and challenges in cybersecurity. One of them is Selma Turki, an internationally recognized advisor on digital transformation. In her keynote, she explains why security is a core part of any digital strategy. “Cybersecurity is a business imperative, not an IT problem.”

Organizations are increasingly relying on cloud computing, AI, and automation to improve efficiency. However, this technological acceleration also expands the attack surface for cybercriminals. Ransomware, insider threats, and supply chain vulnerabilities are making businesses more exposed than ever. “Cyber threats are becoming smarter with AI-driven attacks, deepfakes, and data breaches,” Turki warns. “While AI helps detect threats faster, challenges such as regulations and the shortage of cybersecurity talent persist.”

According to Turki, the future of cybersecurity lies in Zero Trust models, AI-powered threat detection, and real-time monitoring. By embracing security-by-design, companies can strengthen their digital ecosystems and stay ahead of cyber threats.

Automation plays a key role in this. Technologies such as SIEM (Security Information & Event Management) and SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation & Response) enable real-time threat detection and rapid response. Additionally, automated compliance helps businesses meet increasingly complex regulations without losing agility.

Four crucial principles
During her keynote on Day 2 (May 22) of Cybersec Europe, Selma Turki will offer practical strategies and best practices to seamlessly integrate cybersecurity into digital transformation.
In her presentation “The Cybersecurity Imperative in Digital Transformation and Automation”, she will elaborate on four crucial cybersecurity principles:

  1. Security by Design – embedding cybersecurity from the start of digital transformation.

  2. AI & Automation – while AI creates opportunities, it also demands strong governance and ethical frameworks.

  3. Cross-functional Collaboration – cybersecurity is not just IT’s responsibility, but a shared one across the organization.

  4. Continuous Learning – since threats are constantly evolving, companies must invest in ongoing education and adaptive strategies.

“Cybersecurity is no longer merely a technical issue,” says Turki. “It’s a business imperative that makes organizations resilient and future-proof. Those who take security seriously build trust and leadership in the digital age.”
